Job Description

Post 1 - Fixed Term until 30th June 2024, Peripatetic - Clydebank Area - 15 hours per week Monday - Friday 10.00am - 1.00pm.

Post 2 - Permanent, Dumbarton Academy - 26 hours per week Monday - Thursday 8.45am - 2.00pm Friday 10.00am - 2.00pm.

These posts are part time, term-time, the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.

Vacancies have arisen for Catering Assistants within the authority’s Dumbarton and Clydebank areas. The post holder will require to assist in the day today operational requirements of the catering service within this premise as required.

Duties will include assisting in basic food preparation and service of all foods in compliance with the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drinks in schools (Scotland) regulations 2008, compliance with all the relevant legislation as required and setting up / clearing away equipment for food service. The post holder’s duties will include general cleaning to a high standard including crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, kitchen and dining room areas, staff rest room and toilets.

The post holders will require to adhere to Food Safety System, Safe Systems of work and Health and Safety Legislation. Knowledge of such legislations would be an advantage as would previous experience in this type of work.

The successful candidates should be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team. Applicants will be asked to select their preference according to their availability. Please note that whilst some degree of flexibility in working maybe considered the core cleaning times are as stated

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities
