Under the direction of the cook or catering manager, the Catering Assistant will undertake the preparation, simple cooking and serving of food within the residential home.
Duties will include basic food and beverage preparation (for example preparation of vegetables, snacks, meals on wheels), simple cooking tasks and the serving of meals. Other duties will include general kitchen tasks such as setting up and clearing away equipment and hot trolleys, washing up, cleaning the kitchen/surrounding areas and the kitchen equipment.
Applicants must hold an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate and an SVQ 2 in Food Preparation.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
