Job Description

West Dunbartonshire is undergoing considerable transformational change with significant investment in the local area. Many quality developments are being constructed, such as high calibre private and affordable housing, new schools, health care buildings and major infrastructure projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward thinking service by joining a dynamic Building Standards team.

The post covers all aspects of Building Standards including verification of applications, sustainable construction, undertaking site inspections, ensuring the health and safety of people in or around buildings and taking enforcement action where necessary.

You should be educated to degree level in a relevant subject and/or be able to demonstrate significant experience of working in Building Standards.

You will primarily deal with a caseload of Building Warrant and related consents, with particular responsibility for complex applications in relation to domestic properties, housing developments and non-domestic applications. You will work closely with the Building Standards Team Leader, using your knowledge and experience to help develop policies and procedures.

Opportunities for personal development will arise by providing cover in her absence to ensure the smooth running of the section. You will be someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, providing excellent customer care and contributing to the achievement of performance targets.

As part of a small team, it is essential that you share our positive, “can do” ethos and a willingness to be helpful to both colleagues and customers.
