Teacher of P.E (One Year Fixed Term Contract)

Dollar Academy is a leading 5-18 co-educational HMC independent school of around 1350 pupils, set in a beautiful location in central Scotland, within easy reach of the university cities of Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. It is an academic school, regularly appearing near the top of national league tables.

Dollar also has one of the strongest sporting programmes in Scotland. The principal team sports offered are rugby, hockey, cricket, athletics and tennis. All members of the Physical Education department contribute to the co-curricular programme, requiring them to run after-school practices and to work on Saturday mornings, and potentially at other times.

Pupils and former pupils regularly perform at the highest levels, representing Scotland, the UK and other countries in their own sports. The appointee will be expected to teach across the entire 5-18 age range in our varied and comprehensive physical education programme. The aims of the department are to stimulate and maintain pupil interest and enjoyment in a wide range of activities, and to promote the notion of sport for all whilst continuing to strive for excellence at all levels. The promotion of Health and Fitness is also a particular area of focus, enabling pupils to gain an understanding of the effects of exercise on the body and the role of exercise in a fit and healthy lifestyle. The school currently offers certificate physical education at both Higher and Advanced Higher level.
