Head of Computing Science

A well-qualified Head of Computing Science is required to be responsible for the leadership and management of the department in this co-educational day school. The role would suit either an experienced Head of Department or teacher seeking their first promoted post.

Computing Science Department Details

The Computing Science Department delivers Computing Science to pupils of every year group, from Geits (P7) to Sevenths (S6). For Geits to Thirds (S2), Computing Science is part of the core curriculum with each class receiving 1 period per week dedicated to Computing Science. The Department also offers SQA National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Computing Science in Fourths (S3) to Sevenths (S6) as an option subject.

There are two full time teachers of Computing Science in the department, one of which will be the successful candidate. The department is housed in the original main building of the school, adjacent to the main hall and has 2 classrooms each equipped with Windows desktop PC’s, TV connected to Apple TV, whiteboard and secure storage.

In recent years, the department has invested in many new technologies and approaches to enhance the teaching and learning of computational thinking and computer programming.
