Job Title: Lecturer - Heavy Vehicle Automotive

Hours: Part time – 17.5 Hours per week

Main Location: Sighthill Campus

Contract Basis: Permanent

Salary: National Lecturer Pay Scale - £ 35,170 - £43,357 per annum pro rata (Placement on the salary scale is dependent on qualifications and experience as per the National guidelines)

We are currently seeking a Heavy Vehicle Automotive Lecturer with experience and skills within the disciplines of Heavy Vehicle Automotive Engineering to become a lecturer, based at Sighthill Campus, however you may be required to work within other campuses.

The successful post holder will be required to deliver classroom theories and workshop practice subject matter within the Faculty of Engineering in all commercial automotive levels within the skills set of heavy vehicle engineering which will include workshop practice vocational and underpinning theory content. The related subjects will be within heavy vehicle service and repair disciplines. However, it will be desirable to have a skill set within a light vehicle service and repair discipline context also.

The successful candidate will be required to meet the needs of progression for SFC (Scottish Funding Council). The post holder will also take a lead role in improving Engineering and the use of VLE (Virtual Learning Environment).

Candidates must be educated to SVQ Level 3 and VRQ3 or equivalent in an appropriate discipline (e.g. City and Guilds Level 3/IMI Level 3), and you must have relevant experience in the industry as a time served modern apprenticeship or industry qualified Technician in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair or an engineering equivalent. Skills and knowledge in a light vehicle context plus additional accredited specialisms would be advantageous. Furthermore, candidate must possess a wide knowledge and experience of the curriculum area, both theory and practice.
