About the Role

The Quality and Learning Enhancement Manager is critical in leading an enhancement-led approach to quality. It oversees and manages the planning and delivery of effective quality and learning experience enhancement ensuring impact for College strategic priorities and alignment with external requirements.

They play a critical role in shaping and enabling a quality culture across the college. The role fosters a continuous improvement approach in learning, teaching, and assessment — with student partnership and the learner journey at its heart. Working across teams, it will develop and implement initiatives that support a ‘culture for quality’ and enhance the learning and teaching experience for staff and students. It also oversees performance indicators and sector benchmarking for quality

Key Responsibilities

Quality Enhancement

· Provide leadership in enabling and sustaining a ‘quality culture’ across the College, working closely with the Head of Student Records, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, and working collaboratively with curriculum and professional services teams;

· Develop and maintain institutional quality frameworks, and external reference points (e.g. awarding body guidance; SFC quality guidance, TQEF)

Quality Evaluation

· Drive a culture of improvement through evidence-informed self-evaluation, reflective practice, and collaboration;

· Promote inclusion and equality by embedding these principles in quality strategies;

Student Partnership

  • Strengthen student partnership and amplify the student voice in decision making and quality enhancement – by leading collaboration with students, representatives, and the Student Association;
  • Lead development, implementation, and management of a coherent College strategy for student partnership in quality improvement and enhancement, working closely with the Head of Student Records, Quality Assurance and Enhancement

Benchmarking and Reporting

  • Shape and lead effective systems for tracking and reporting quality enhancement and evaluation activities including Quality PIs, RAG ratings, and ensure data informed curriculum planning and improvement;
  • Manage analysis of performance progress and benchmarking, and provide clear insights and reporting for quality planning and strategic decisions;

Policy Oversight and Management

· Lead the development, implementation, and continuous review of institutional policies and procedures related to quality assurance and enhancement, ensuring alignment with national frameworks and sector expectations;

· Work closely with Quality, Student Information, and Curriculum leadership to ensure a suite of aligned policies and procedures to enable regulatory compliance, confidence in academic standards, and continuous improvement;

Leadership and Development

· Support and enable accessibility, approachability and strong cross team working relationship by maintaining a visible presence across the College, being available to staff and students to provide guidance, resolve queries, and promote confidence in examination and resulting processes;

· Work closely with Head of Student Records, Quality Assurance and Enhancement to enable transformation of the way Quality and Student Information functions are shaped and aligned to College strategic ambition and sector wide changes;

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

· Degree or equivalent (SCQF Level 9) in a relevant subject

· Relevant teaching qualification

· Specialist knowledge and experience of developing and leading quality enhancement processes and procedures in a college context

· Experience of leading internal and external quality audits and review, follow-up, and evaluation processes

· Proven L&T experience within a college environment

Desirable:

· (Quality) Management qualification

· Experience of external partnership working

· Experience of budget and resource management

· Experience of complaints handling

Skills and Attributes

Essential:

· Ability to support the bigger picture - develop and maintain understanding of wider context of political, funding, technological, and social developments to ensure activity is relevant and aligned

· Understand and identify the role of technology in service delivery and policy implementation

· Ability to understand and enable vision and change, working with senior leader
