Catering Assistant

The Glasgow Academy is seeking a Catering Assistant to work in our Kelvinbridge Nursery/Kindergarten/After School Care.

A current Elementary Food Hygiene certificate is required. City & Guilds or SQA catering qualification is desirable but candidates with on the job experience will be considered. First Aid would be advantageous, but not essential.

Daily tasks may vary but will include:

• Reporting for work timeously with correct clean uniform and following personal hygiene rules.
• Preparation of pupils’ snacks.
• Preparation, service and clear down of lunch to pupils and staff.
• Correct storage of all food stock using proper stock rotation.
• Hygienic, safe preparation and service of food.
• Daily and weekly cleaning of all food preparation areas and catering equipment.
• General cleaning duties.
• Recording of required food temperatures and cleaning schedule.
• Liaising daily with the Catering Manager, Nursery manager, Catering supervisor and the Head Chef.
• Assisting with functions and events out with contracted working hours by prior arrangement.

The successful applicant will report directly to the Catering Manager.
