CLERK TO THE BOARD OF MANAGEMENT

(0.6 FTE – 21 HOURS)

This vital and exciting role provides support and advice to the Board of Glasgow Clyde College and to its Committees. You will advise the Board on all aspects of its role as the College’s governing body responsible for developing the strategic direction of one of Scotland’s largest and most innovative colleges.

Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board of Management, you will organise Board and Committee business, providing independent advice on governance issues to ensure compliance with regulations and support best practice at all times.

You will ensure that the Board operates effectively and efficiently within the legal and constitutional framework governing Boards of Management in Scottish colleges. Excellent planning and organisational skills, attention to detail, a proactive approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to analyse and solve complex problems are essential requirements for this role.

As part of the Glasgow Region, which incorporates Glasgow, East Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire, the post holder will also work with the Secretaries to the Board of Glasgow Kelvin College, City of Glasgow College and the Glasgow Regional College Board.

Applicants for the post must have good IT skills, experience of minute taking and report writing, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and understand political sensitivity. Experience of the education sector would be welcome. Hours of work will be part-time, averaging 21 hours per week and you should therefore, be able and willing to work variable hours, including evenings, to meet the requirements of the Board.
