The Director of Digital Services has a key strategic role in the College you will be tasked with delivering the ambitious Digital Transformation strategy to make Glasgow Kelvin one of the most digitally advanced College’s in Scotland.

We are one of the only colleges in Scotland to be awarded Microsoft Showcase College status and are challenging existing operations with new and exciting automation technology.

You will lead the transformation and continuous improvement of learning and teaching environment through the enhancement of digital capabilities to meet the needs of our learners, staff and external partners.

We want to earn the trust of our staff, students and partners with regards to their data and identity – therefore we need you to develop the Cyber Security posture into one that’s highly secure but allows for innovation and creativity within learning.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will drive the implementation of an innovative and modern digital service – focusing on efficient turnkey cloud services, automation while also developing an advanced data culture.

We need you to be able to:

· A passion for the role which will allow you the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our students and the communities in the North and East of Glasgow.

· A proven track record of developing innovative Digital services in a further education or relevant industrial context

· Lead on the development and delivery of our Digital Transformation Strategy.

· Demonstrate an architectural understanding of Azure and M365 technologies,

· Be a leader within the College and sector on Cyber Security matters – develop Security Policies, incident response plans, vulnerability management processes, staff awareness platforms and an ambitious zero trust network programme,

· Show strong knowledge of cloud-based security platforms within the Microsoft Azure, M365 stack and Desktop/XDR management,

· Lead a growing team of developers, bringing innovative ideas to life utilising robust Agile development practices focusing on .Net technologies and supporting continuous improvement through automation systems.

· Contain a strong understanding of data development platforms using Microsoft technologies – unifying data from multiple systems for centralised reporting,

· Advise and support Senior Management with the development of integrated business systems and identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency and deliver cost savings utilising automation technologies

· Engage with staff across the College to ensure that digital services enhance and support the development and delivery of high quality learning, teaching, assessment and wider College services, such as business management, monitoring, analysis and control.

· Ensure we have a fit for purpose ICT infrastructure and hardware, providing high quality facilities to meet the needs of our learners, staff and external stakeholders

· Be responsible and accountable for both the annual ICT Revenue budget and the ICT capital investment plan.

· Be responsible for ICT projects from both a cost and delivery perspective.

We need you to demonstrate:

· Experience in:

o working in a multi-site environment

o leading and developing large teams and working at a senior level

o Leading data projects

o planning and ICT service development

  • project managing ICT capital projects; and
  • monitoring the performance and delivery of external contractors.
