Teacher of Support for Learning

The Support for Learning team play an important role in implementing the school's policy on Assessing Children's Educational Needs. From August 2018 the team will comprise the Principal Teacher and a part-time teacher as well as Pupil Support Assistants who work across our Primary and Secondary departments.

The Support for Learning department work in both the Primary and Secondary departments. The emphasis n Primary is to support our early intervention strategy so that pupils can access the Secondary curriculul in a meaningful way. Experience of working with younger children is desirable but not essential.

Ensuring that appropriate assessment arrangements are in place, including for SQA examinations, takes on greater significance as learners progress through upper Primary and into Secondary.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will require to extend his/her skills base into areas of the curriculum or with groups of pupils they may not have dealt with extensively (if at all) in the past. A willingness to engage with a broad range of needs, stages and issues is essential. the school will suppor the development of the teacher through our professional learning framwork.

The post is for 3 days per week. there may be some flexibility on the days worked.

The intended commencement date is August 2018 when the new session commences.

Appointment of the successful candidate is conditional on a successful PVG check prior to commencement in the post, satisfactory references, presentation of relevant qualifications and confirmation of the right to work in the UK.
