Grade: 5 - £27,979 to £31,396 with possible progression to £33,966 pro rata

Commercial Services is responsible for a number of services which are central to both the well-being of students and staff, and to the delivery of some of the University’s corporate objectives. The main areas within commercial services are Accommodation Services, Catering & Retail, Conferences & Events and Sports & Leisure.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, based within the Conferences & Events Team, the Conference & Events Co-ordinator will plan, organise and coordinate a range of corporate (internal) and commercial (external) conferences and events. The post holder will also co-ordinate the summer school activity throughout the year and August residential business. They will organise the operational services for both the events business and summer school business and liaise with internal departments including Accommodation, Facilities, Catering and Sport & Fitness departments. The role holder will be a confident communicator with a positive can-do attitude and be comfortable dealing with challenging situations.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager to support the growth of the Conferences & Events business, the role holder should be self-driven, creative, and enthusiastic and be confident in taking the initiative in the development of new procedures where necessary.

Conferences & Events is CSE accredited (Customer Service Excellence) and have the needs of our customers at the heart of everything we do. Therefore, excellent customer service skills are necessary.

Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) with proven experience in successfully coordinating multiple events, the role holder should be able to remain calm under pressure and have excellent influencing skills.

This role involves some out of hours working (evenings and weekends).
