St Philip’s School is one of Scotland’s leading specialist Residential Care and Education organisations currently supporting young people aged 10 – 18 years, who have a range of additional support needs, including social, emotional and behavioural development.

St Philip's School is looking to add Maintenance Support Worker to its Maintenance Team. The individual would work 37 hours per week on a five over seven basis which will incorporate working weekends and public holidays. You may be required to work evenings if necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, paint/decorating and plumbing repairs
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them promptly
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs
  • Supervise and coordinate with external contractors when necessary
  • Provide excellent customer service to address maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • To open and lock school’s facilities as required
  • To ensure that all faults or potential hazards are dealt with appropriately or if unable to make safe, ensure they are reported immediately to the Maintenance Manager
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with health and safety legislation and the school’s health and safety policy.
  • To report anything or anyone suspicious on school grounds.
  • Assist with planned Health and Safety Inspections and update the T100 System as required.

Requirements:

To be effective in this role, you will be skilled in the use of tools in relation to drilling, painting, basic repairs & general DIY. A good level of general property maintenance and horticultural skills would be advantageous. Strong organizational skills to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time. You will possess excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

A Driving licence is essential for this role.

These posts are regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
