Hybrid working, based in Perth or Aberdeen with at least 3 days in the office.

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) plays a critical role in the nation’s emergency services. It operates 365 days per year, 12 hours day from its bases at Perth and Aberdeen airports. It plays an essential role in supporting the Scottish Ambulance Service and frontline emergency response network.

Established in 2013, it has already responded to over 5000 calls with demand growing year on year. In the last decade, more than £50million has been raised to deliver this life-saving service.

This charity relies 100% on raised income, receiving no statutory funding whatsoever. It has well developed and successful communications, marketing and fundraising teams which generate between £7-£8million per annum. This comes from a diverse range of sources - individual donors, major donors, grants and trusts, corporate bodies, and a SCAA Lottery which, in itself, raises £4.5million per annum. SCAA believes its income generating potential is significantly higher and has ambitions to grow this area significantly.

As SCAA’s next Director of Finance and Resources, you will have responsibility for leading on all aspects of financial management, including the direct line management of 2 members of staff, and accountability to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees. You will also have oversight of the investment portfolio, which is managed by external fund managers. Your directorate also includes corporate functions such as IT, HR, and facilities management. You will form part of the Executive Management Team alongside the CEO and Director of Development and Engagement, having joint responsibility for the overall strategic management of the charity. You will be central to SCAA’s future success.

We are looking for someone who is a qualified accountant and who has been in a senior and strategic management position for at least 5 years, handling a multi-million and multi stream budget of a similar size to SCAA’s. You will need to have experience of reporting directly into a Board of Trustees/Management. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate how you have supported an organisation to deliver a growth strategy. You will also have to demonstrate experience of running other corporate functions as the Director has a broad remit across the charity. You should have an engaging, clear, and succinct communication style and excellent judgement as a senior leader. SCAA prides itself on its culture of collegiate and supportive working and outstanding leadership. While being a focussed and ambitious organisation, it also tries to create a friendly and fun working environment. You will need to be an asset to this much prized working environment.

We are looking for candidates from the private, public and third sector who meet the above criteria.
