CHIEF EXECUTIVE- Full time 35 hours per week
Home-Start Aberdeen is looking to recruit a new Chief Executive to head up their volunteer led family support service across Aberdeen city and help create the best start in life for local young children.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead an Aberdeen charity which employs a team of around 15 staff who are assisted by up to 100 volunteers. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive role is a key leadership role to ensure the sustainability of our much needed support service for young children and their families in Aberdeen.
Our current strategy takes us through to 2024 with a focus on core support services, developing our group work, building on the success of our charity shop and reinforcing our strong foundations. We operate as an independent company with annual expenditure of £500,000 and enjoy the benefits of being part of a nationwide network under the umbrella of Home-Start UK.
Working with the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive role provides leadership and operational guidance to our team. This is a hands-on role which will suit someone who enjoys a varied, busy workload and can prioritise competing priorities at any one time.
Our ideal candidate will have strong leadership capability, be resilient and a natural decision maker, will be people focussed with a positive outlook and have the ability to motivate our hardworking team.
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of a child’s early years and who is passionate about ensuring families get the support they need to give their child the best possible start in life, which is at the heart of the Home-Start model.
Working closely with our own Fundraising Manager, you will have an understanding of charity fundraising, and of developing relationships with funders.
Impact reporting is also important as is the ability to build connections and good networks across the city’s thriving industries and business sector.
Strong governance and a commitment to good compliance is required as the nature of our work is heavily regulated. Previous experience of working in a management role within a charity organisation is preferred, although not essential.
If you want to make a difference to local children’s lives, then this opportunity could be for you.
The Chief Executive position is offered on a permanent, full-time 35 hour per week basis in our new office suite in Aberdeen city centre; with the option of 1 day per week working from home available.
- Salary to be offered: up to £40,500
- Benefits: 34 days annual leave per annum (includes public holidays)
The post is subject to a PVG check at enhanced level.
Home Start Aberdeen positively welcomes and seeks to ensure we achieve diversity in our workforce and that all job applicants and employees receive equal and fair treatment. We encourage applications from all candidates regardless of age, race, gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
