National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museum groups in Europe. Millions of local and international visitors enjoy our four museums each year, and we also introduce our collections to a much wider audience than can physically visit our museums through, touring exhibitions, loans, community engagement, digital programmes and research.

The unique power of our multi-disciplinary collections gives us a platform from which to influence outcomes across the Scottish Government portfolio. We are a key contributor to progress through the Scottish Government’s National Performance Framework and Equalities Outcomes. We remain committed to contributing to the delivery of the Scottish Government’s Culture Strategy and its principles of inclusion and accessibility, which have long guided our work.

In 2018 National Museums Scotland and Scottish Government partnered to deliver Maths Week Scotland as a national programme. In 2019 Maths Week Scotland formally launched with a brand, website and programme of activity. This programme stems from the 2016 Making Maths Count advisory group recommendations.

The focal point of this work will be on an annual Maths Week Scotland initiative and will oversee a range of maths-related activities and events with other organisations

Building relationships with industry, academia, education providers, and the museum sector, you will advocate for and support organisations to deliver more maths content in formal and informal programming. You will co-ordinate and deliver the Maths Week Scotland programme, the development of a digital marketing campaign and the promotion of Scottish Government Maths Week through PR, press and national/international conferences. You will also work closely with Scottish Government to ensure Maths Week Scotland delivers in line with Scottish Government aims

You will work closely with the Maths Week Scotland Digital Content Producer to develop onlinecontent including a social media campaign to promote Maths Week Scotland. You’ll have relevant experience ideally in a relevant STEM area, you will also have a working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence and current initiatives in Scottish education. An understanding of the informal education sector is vital, as are project coordination skills and creative thinking to plan and advise on new programmes and resources. Experience in producing resources and programmes for formal and informal learners in STEM subjects, is also essential for this post.
