Routes to Work South is a company Limited by Guarantee with charitable status, that has been delivering employability and skills services supporting the people and businesses of South Lanarkshire for over 20 years. A not-for-profit organisation, Routes to Work South reinvests its revenue and surplus income every year in local people and in the communities of South Lanarkshire.

Committed to reducing the impact of poverty on South Lanarkshire residents through the provision of a wide range of training and employment opportunities, Routes to Work South’s mission is to; make a lasting difference, promote opportunity, create choice, and enable change.

Routes to Work South is an arm’s length organisation (ALEO) of South Lanarkshire Council and key delivery partner. The company actively participates in local forums and positively contributes to the wide-reaching aims of the Local Employability Partnership. Our partners include Skills Development Scotland, DWP and South Lanarkshire Council.

Through competitive tendering, the company has gained extensive experience of delivering national training and employability programmes that include Employability Fund and Fair Start Scotland.

You will work alongside the Board Chair, fellow members, Chief Executive, and the Management Team and as a Director, you will have a key role in contributing to the development of strategy, management of risk and overall governance of our organisation.

Board Meetings are held quarterly and complemented by several sub-committees focused on Finance, Personnel and Quality Assurance. The level of commitment required for Board Directors is up to 25 hours per annum. Please note this appointment is non-remunerative, however reasonable expenses may be reimbursed.
