Working with children and their families, the programme is focused on early intervention and stimulating generational social change, increasing confidence, aspiration, community cohesion, pride and developing high level skills in the young people involved. We deliver our work through the creation of Big Noise programmes within communities, and currently run six programmes in, Douglas in Dundee, Raploch & Fallin in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Torry in Aberdeen and Wester Hailes in Edinburgh.

Big Noise Douglas (Dundee) have a vacancy for a Senior Musician (Upper or Lower Strings, or Wind). At Big Noise Douglas, you will be part of a team who work with children from pre-school, primary school, secondary school and adults. The team are creative in designing and introducing new ways of learning as we use the orchestra to grow children’s confidence, respect, aspiration, drive and understanding. As part of the team, you will develop innovative ways to engage children and families, including home visits and community performances.

As a Senior Musician you would support the Head of Centre by contributing to the shaping of our work in the Douglas community, by leading on trips and events, encouraging and supporting staff members, building new areas of work in portfolio areas such as youth voice, curriculum and delivery, external partners and community representation. You will also provide leadership and support for Big Noise Musicians, enabling them to deliver the best outcomes for the children, young people and community members in the programme. You will have experience of working with children in a music education and/or community music context, along with experience and success in taking on leadership roles and responsibilities. You will also have experience of working with large and varied groups of children along with a track record of success in giving music instruction to children on your specialist instrument.

This is a permanent post, working 28 hours per week Monday to Thursday, all year round.
