The South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran) is one of seven statutory Regional Transport Partnerships established under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 to take a regional approach to transport planning and delivery.

SEStran encompasses eight local authorities: City of Edinburgh, Clackmannanshire, East Lothian, Falkirk, Fife, Midlothian, Scottish Borders and West Lothian.

The Partnership’s principal duty and responsibility is developing and overseeing the delivery of a statutory Regional Transport Strategy, which sets out a vision, objectives and proposed actions for how transport will support and promote economic prosperity; connect communities and reduce social exclusion; and improve environmental sustainability, health and wellbeing.

Within the partnership area there is a huge diversity of transportation issues, from urban congestion to rural public transport and from ferry ports to airports. SEStran aims to address these issues and work towards a more sustainable and efficient transport network.

We are seeking to appoint two Project Officer’s within our Project’s Team. Reporting to the Programme Manager or Strategy Manager you will support the delivery of european funded projects and SEStran’s capital and revenue projects.

Educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject, e.g. transportation, civil engineering or environmental project management, the ideal candidates will develop innovative and creative ideas to support the region’s transport strategy, contribute to involving stakeholders in policy development and will undertake problem solving/option appraisal and development.

They will have excellent communication skills, meaning that they will feel equally confident in dealing with decision makers or gathering information within our service. Strong organisational skills will enable them to work independently and as part of a team to manage a range of priorities.

These are fixed term contracts for a duration of 18 months. One post may be made permanent.
