About Aberlour Sustain Transitions (North Ayrshire)

In partnership with Ayrshire and Arran Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), we are delighted to launch Aberlour Sustain Transitions (North Ayrshire) which will support children and their families within the Largs locality.

For Aberlour, our support begins and ends with families and communities as we aim to help build skills, confidence and belonging as an integral part of supported school transitions. We work to compliment the existing strengths and skills of children, young people, families and communities to ensure that people feel connected, building confidence in sustaining and leading change. We believe that families know most about their lives and circumstances and are here to walk alongside them, where and how they decide they need this.

In Largs, we will work together with children, families, communities, and partners to deliver bespoke workshops and personalised support (both group and individual) for families who have children transitioning from P7 into S1 and S1 into S2. These will improve wellbeing, reduce barriers to discussing wellbeing and provide practical skills to cope with day to day challenges and worries.

We recognise that the pandemic has created new challenges for families, and we are here to create space for them to identify what could improve their collective wellbeing. This may be finding solutions, offering practical suggestions or simply just being there to listen whilst ensuring we provide privacy & space to feel comfortable and heard.

What we are looking for....

We are looking to recruit two Community Support Practitioners who will work 37.5 hours per week, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. These posts are offered on a fixed term basis until June 2023, and we will be actively seeking further funding which would allow us to extend these contracts. You will have experience of direct practice with families and communities, including child/adult protection issues as well as having experience of working with children and young people. You will recognise the diversity of communities, how approaches differ in localities and how we adapt our approach to these changing environments.

You will work within a variety of locations in Largs including family homes, schools and community settings. Travel throughout North Ayrshire will be required.

What we offer...

As well as a supportive team and excellent training opportunities, we want all our employees to feel valued and rewarded for the vital work they do. When you work with us, we'll recognise your efforts with generous annual leave, an excellent employer pension scheme and a range of deals and discounts across various retailers.

If you have any queries please e-mail: jobs@aberlour.org.uk.

Aberlour is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all children, young people and families and uses a thorough and rigorous recruitment and selection process including PVG Scheme checks to ensure this commitment is not compromised.
