You will have an HNC/SVQ3, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline, or equivalent transferrable skills and experience.Responsibilities
The post will assist in the implementation and delivery of an efficient Building Standards Service, and ensure the Council meets its legal and statutory obligations set out within the Building (Scotland) Act 2003.
You will inspect and, as required, test building works to ensure that the method and materials used conforms to the approved building warrant and building regulations requirements.
There is a responsibility for you to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.The Individual
You will have knowledge of building standards legislation and building regulations, experience of analysing building defects and determining suitable solutions, experience of interpreting technical drawings, of working in the construction industry and previous experience of site inspections.
You will have an ability to write reports and have excellent communication, organisational skills and time management skills. You will have knowledge or experience of working with electronic drawings and measurements and be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages.
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence.
