Working in hybrid style, based at home and office at East City Square, you will work full time, 37 hours per week. Requirements

You will have a degree, or equivalent and be GTCS registered in the appropriate sector.

Responsibilities

You will join the Children and Families Service's Senior Leadership Team. You will lead responsibility for the process of continuous improvement in support services and establishments, including all aspects of complex and additional support needs within the Children and Families Service. You will provide strategic leadership and management for Additional Support Needs services and GIRFEC policy and practice in early years’ settings and schools. You will assist both Heads of Service (Children and Families Service) in improving outcomes for children and families and in strengthening support for all children with complex and additional support needs across the public, private and voluntary sectors. You will ensure ASN services are managed in accordance with legislation, external scrutiny bodies such as Education Scotland, SSSC and Care Inspectorate and Council Policy. You will assist both Heads of Service (Children and Families Service) with all operational matters relating to complex and additional support needs services and establishments, including the process of continuous improvement in specialist provisions/early years settings/schools and across the Children and Families Service. As part of the extended senior leadership structure, you will provide professional and operational leadership in support of the Chief Education Officer with the development of strategic city-wide initiatives and other matters.

The Individual

You will have considerable experience in the field of education, specifically in development and implementation of additional support needs strategy. You will have management and leadership experience of services, teams and strategic initiatives, knowledge of legislation and statutory duties in relation to children and young people with additional support needs, evidence of involvement in quality improvement work, evidence of leading and managing developmental projects or teams, evidence of successful outcomes in developing strategic projects and continuing personal and professional development. You will have the ability to think strategically and give strategic direction, the ability to build and lead teams, to work under pressure and tight timescales and to develop creative and practical solutions to strategic and management problems and issues. You will a high developed written, oral and presentational skills and proven administrative skills. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
