Requirements

You will have a Social Work Degree, CQSW, Dip SW, CSS (with appropriate option) or a Degree in Community Learning and Development.

Responsibilities

You will undertake the assessment, preparation and planning with young people leaving local authority care. You will support Care Leavers to develop the skills necessary for independence, and to provide holistic advice, guidance and assistance.

The Individual

You will have experience of direct working with vulnerable and socially excluded young people, experience of multi-agency person-centred support plan development and implementation. You will have working knowledge of statutory children and families and/or Throughcare and Aftercare practice, legislation and guidance. An understanding of issues affecting care leavers and to work in partnership as part of a multi-agency team. You will have the ability to communicate with socially excluded young people. You will have assessment skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, competent in use of IT, the ability to prioritise own workload and you must be available to work flexible hours. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
