With responsibility for identifying temporary accommodation options for homeless households while making best use of stock delivering an effective service for customers displaying best professional practice whilst fulfilling legislative requirements within a regulated environment.

You will liaise with Customers, Assessment Officer, Accommodation Officers, Housing Support Officers and external Agencies to arrange the allocation and sign up of all accommodation options in a timely and efficient manner.  You will provide advice and assistance on the allocation of temporary housing and rights and responsibilities of the acceptance/refusal of offers ensuring the Council meets its statutory duty in respect of homeless people and the Interim Duty to Accommodate.

This post also involves the assessment of temporary applications for housing to ensure physical, emotional and health issues are met where practically possible in line with the Homeless Persons (Unsuitable Accommodation) (Scotland) Order: Guidance. You will be able to prioritise workloads, work under pressure and work in a team with minimal supervision. You will be required to be mobile throughout the Council area.

Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate to homeless people in a sympathetic manner.  Tact and discretion are vital.  Applicants should have knowledge of Housing and Homeless legislation along with qualifications in Housing or customer care.
