Summer Intern - DM Planning Telecoms and Innovation - (Fixed-Term)

Job Description

Glasgow City Council is able to provide a summer Internship from Monday 05 June 2023 – Friday 25 August 2023, inclusive.

Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.

The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage.

Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12 week placement.

Currently the Council, as Planning Authority, receive a significant number of Regulation 5 notifications from telecoms operators. These notifications are required by the telecoms industry through Scottish Government legislation whereby once received the Council has 28 days in which to raise concerns or objection. Unlike formal planning applications there is no template or set process for these Regulation 5 notices and each authority is left to devise its own solution. 

The aim of this project is to development a clear streamlined process for managing the workflow for these notifications and develop a way in which these notifications can be stored and available on GIS.

This project will benefit the Telecoms industry in their delivery of digital infrastructure in Glasgow and would demonstrate that the Council are leading the way when it comes to supporting the development industry.

This project will involve the development of a process for logging, checking and signing off Regulation 5 Notices,  investigate and hopefully deliver an appropriate mapping solution which holds this data in one place for both the public and key stakeholders.

•    Must live within the Glasgow City Council boundary
•    Have the right to live and work in the UK
•    Be in the year of study specified in the advert
