Job Description
To promote, develop and deliver Community Learning & Development in the designated area in line with local priorities and identified need. This post has a functional specialism with regard to Youth Work and includes line management responsibility for Senior Youth Worker and Youth Workers.
The Community Learning & Development Worker will be part of the Communities (CLD) service and will operate under the general direction of the Children, Young People and Families Team Manager.
Responsibilities
Initiate, plan and lead actions to create opportunities for achievement for young people which will increase their confidence, resilience and support them to gain knowledge that they can apply in wider contexts.
Planning, delivery and evaluation of Community Learning provision for young people in line with service and CLD Plan priorities.
Contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of work using the Continuous Improvement Framework.
Managing/supervising part time/voluntary staff.
Ensure compliance with Council policies and with the professional expectations of the CLD Standards Council Scotland.
Ensuring all Health and Safety Regulations are complied with.
The Individual
- Substantial experience of Community Learning & Development work with a youth focus.
- Experience of managing staff, budgets and delivering training.
- A CLD Degree or equivalent qualification accepted for full membership of the CLD Standards Council.
- Ability to engage effectively with young people and partners in both face to face and online settings.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Experience of developing community based CLD Youth Work provision
- Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate CLD provision in the advertised field and to adjust accordingly as required.
- Use a range of monitoring and evaluation processes to measure the impact of services in order to maximise their effectiveness and sustainability through continuous development and improvement.
- You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car / van.
- Clear understanding of how the Code of Ethics should be applied to CLD practice
- Effective communication skills; oral and written.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to service development.
- Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to implementing equality of opportunity in all areas of work.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
- Ability to work in different locations dependent on service requirements.
