Job Description

Based in Elgin , the work will entail the acceptance, storage, treatment, transfer and disposal of controlled waste arriving at the Council’s disposal facilities including the need to work at various other facilities to cover for sickness and holidays.

 

Responsibilities

Operate and be responsible for any waste disposal plant allocated.

The processing (baling & loading) of bulk recyclates, primarily card, paper & plastics/cans arising from domestic, recycling centre, recycling point and trade collections.

Assist with the handling and transfer of recyclables received at the main transfer and treatment centre at Moycroft.

General Disposal labouring and housekeeping duties. To ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety are applied.

 

The Individual

Previous employment in combined manual/plant operator post for a minimum of 1 year.

Must be literate and able to act on instructions

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Able to work on own under instruction and as part of a team.

Able to operate forklift and earthmoving plant to include large wheeled shovel loaders

Able to understand and act on instruction

Able to communicate effectively with members of the public and commercial customers

Satisfactory report from Occupational Health Services

Starting Salary : £23,011.04

£11.96 per hour

37 hours per week
