Senior Administrative Officer

14 hours per week, Mondays and Tuesdays

£27,086 - £29,039 pro rata (including Distant Islands Allowance)

We require a Senior Administrative Officer to join an established Operational Support team which provides all aspects of administrative support for Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure. This is a part-time shared post with another member of the team who works 21 hours per week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

You will assist in providing a high quality efficient and effective support service to meet the needs of the Service.

This position represents a challenging opportunity to assist in the main duty of costing and invoicing, which includes undertaking research, gathering information, generating invoices and preparing information for managers.

You must be able to show an ability to establish good working relationships with all levels of staff and demonstrate the ability to provide a professional service.

You will already have experience of working as an effective team member within an administration team, using your own initiative with excellent administration and computer skills, ideally using Microsoft Office Applications. You will need to be able to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, work unsupervised and be able to motivate others within the team. Experience of supervising staff is essential.

Candidates should hold a minimum of an SVQ 3 or equivalent Business or Administration level qualification (SCQF level 6) OR where the essential qualification is not held, a minimum of 3 years’ recent experience of working in an administrative role is required. You will be part of a team liaising with Heads of Service, Managers, members of staff and the public.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirement of the Service.
