Job Description

Fixed Term: 9 Months

The post holder will require to provide an effective minute taking service Adult and Older People’s services and Children and Justice Services. 

The post holder will provide an effective minute taking service to all Service areas, including arranging, minuting and distributing paperwork for Child Protection, Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity, etc. The successful applicant should possess previous minute taking experience, good keyboard, oral and written communication skills.

This is a temporary position for a period of up to 9 months.  Prior to making your application, please discuss your potential application with your current Line Manager. In the event that you are being considered for this post, your release to undertake this internal fixed term opportunity would need to be agreed in advance and managed by the service/s or resource/s.

Requirements

The types of minutes will include Child Protection and Adult Support and Protection.  These meetings can be a forum to discuss some very sensitive issues and the nature of the discussions can be quite distressing.  It is therefore imperative that staff are aware of this before being considered for the post.

They will also be given a minute taking test where they will be asked to minute a Case Conference meeting communicated via a DVD.  They will need to type up an accurate minute of the meeting.  We are not expecting them to complete but we are expecting that they have the ability to take down the important and relevant points to populate the minute.

We have learned from experience that minute taking at this level is not something that can be addressed by a course but it is in fact a skill.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007.  Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children and/or protected adults.
