West Lothian Council operate 4 care home across the authority, based in Livingston, West Calder and Whitburn.

We currently have a number of part time vacancies across the care homes for Care Home Domestics. Specifically:

1 x 12hrs and 1 x 30hrs at Burngrange Care Home, West Calder

As a member of the care home staff team you will provide practical support in the day to day running of the care home.   This post is predominantly to work within the kitchen, however you may also be required to carry out domestic work across other the care home, including the laundry.

We are looking for a motivated person with a flexible approach to work. Previous experience is not essential but there is an expectation that training will be undertaken.

The key duties of this post are:

  • The Care Home Domestic (kitchen) may undertake varied tasks under the direction of the Cook in Charge including general cleaning, dish washing, basic food preparation and stock rotation.

    .

  • To ensure that all procedures are undertaken following procedure and policies laid down by West Lothian Council and the standards deemed by the Care Inspectorate as well as Public Health Scotland.

 

  • To ensure the safety and welfare of service users is paramount.

 

 

  • To take appropriate responsibility for the implementation of Council policy on health, safety and welfare at work to ensure in conjunction with the appropriate senior staff that the terms of the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated regulations are observed within the Home.
  •  

The skills and experience you should have – experience or working in a catering environment would be advantageous.

Shift rotas are in operation.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.  If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
