West Lothian Council Graduate Work Experience Programme
Funded by the Scottish Government's No One Left Behind (NOLB) programme and administered by West Lothian Council.
Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable work experience and develop your skills within a large and diverse organisation?
West Lothian Council is offering Graduate Work Experience opportunities on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027. These placements provide recent graduates with the opportunity to gain practical experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to progress into sustained employment.

- Social Policy
- Customer and Community Services
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will gain insight into how local government operates while developing valuable skills and experience to complement your academic qualifications.
Eligibility
Applications are open to West Lothian residents who:
Hold a university degree and graduated in 2024 or later; and
- Are either:
- Unemployed young people aged 16 to 24; or
- Unemployed parents eligible for support through the Parental Employability Support Fund (PESF).
- Please note that eligibility conditions apply, including exemptions permitted under the Equality Act 2010.
Candidates who have previously received funding through a West Lothian Council employment incentive, or a similar programme administered by West Lothian Council, are not eligible for further funding through this programme.
