St. Ninian’s Primary School and ELC setting is a denominational primary school serving the communities of Dedridge, Adambrae and Murieston. Our school roll is 254 and we have 11 classes and a 30/30 nursery.

St. Ninian’s ELC is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and nurturing Pupil Support Worker within our ELC team. The ELC Team consists of 1 full time Early Years Officer, 5 Early Years Practitioners and 2 Pupil Support Workers.

The successful candidate will work as part of a forward thinking team, bringing a sound knowledge of child development and will respond to the individual needs of each child, providing high quality and caring interactions.

The post holder will provide support for teachers and children to enhance experiences and achievement for children. They will undertake a range of support activities with regard to general supervision, safety, care and well-being of the children.   

The Post Holder will work with and support pupils within the mainstream classes. They will be part of the school team involved in implementing school strategies designed to improve pupil performance in the following areas: 

  • Transitions within the school and the local community 
  • Support Behaviour  
  • Relationships with peers  
  • Progress in learning and attainment  
  • Relationships with staff  

Good communication skills are essential and you should enjoy working as part of a team. The post holder will work in partnership with all stakeholders within Letham Primary School to ensure a high quality student experience. 

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
