St Ninian’s Primary is a denominational primary school situated in Dedridge Livingston, West Lothian. The current school roll is 268 students with 68 pupils in our nursery class. The staff in both the school and nursery work closely together to support all learners across the nursery and school including those designated to support students with additional learning needs. St Ninian’s has an excellent reputation in the local community, particularly for the high standards of conduct and confidence displayed by students.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Pupil Support Worker who will contribute to providing a safe, secure and inclusive school environment that builds the confidence of young people and enhance their ability to play and learn.
The Post Holder will work with and support primary pupils in a range of situations. They are an integral part of the school team involved in implementing strategies designed to improve pupil performance in the following areas:
- Progress in learning and engagement by learning through play.
- Personal and social development and skills in independence
- Developing Relationships with peers and staff
- Supporting the personal care of pupils
- Supporting the preparation of nursery snacks and supervision of pupils while eating meals.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.
The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
