West Lothian Council’s Criminal and Youth Justice Service, have an exciting opportunity to recruit two Social Workers to the Community Payback Order team.  This dynamic team is responsible for the supervision of Court Orders for all individuals over the age of twenty-one, with the successful candidates being expected to manage a diverse, complex and challenging caseload displaying an ability to work collaboratively with service providers whilst adopting a trauma informed approach when engaging with service users..  While primarily based within the Community Payback Order team, the successful candidates will however be expected to work across the wider Justice Service Teams to meet the exigencies of the service.  Candidates must meet the essential criteria:

  • BA in Social Work or other approved recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Good understanding of the challenges of the client group
  • Must be prepared to work with violent and sexual offenders. 

These posts are considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.

These positions requires registration with the SSSC.  The successful candidates will have six months from commencement in this post to register with the SSSC.
