The Social Care Emergency Team (SCET) provides emergency social work services out of normal office hours. The team works in co-operation with other council services, such as out-of-hours homeless officer, and also with the emergency services.

The team’s priorities include: child and adult protection, statutory mental health assessment and family or care breakdown as well as providing an Appropriate Adult Service out of hours

Unsocial hours shift work is integral to the post and demands a high level of creative initiative in using resources available with the Council’s Services and in the community in an imaginative way.  

The staff work a shift rota providing cover midweek, at weekends and on public holidays. On each shift there is a duty manager, a social worker and an emergency care worker

We are currently recruiting to our Locum bank. You should note that hours will not be guaranteed and successful applicants will be placed onto a locum bank and will be contacted to cover shifts as and when required. Applications will be processed as they are submitted.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the West Lothian Council
