The Widening Participation (WP) and Outreach department supports a number of different widening access projects at GCU, including Caledonian Club, College Connect, GCU Connect, Advanced Higher Hub, and the Routes for All programme. In partnership with Glasgow City Council (GCC), the Advanced Higher Hub was established as part of the GCU Outreach team in 2013 to complement and supplement the provision of Advanced Highers. The Hub is jointly funded by the SFC and GCC.
Integral to the Common Good mission of the university and sitting within our Widening Participation and Outreach department we are seeking an Administrator for the Advanced Higher Hub. The Administrator will work closely with the WP and Outreach Administration Coordinator and the Hub Administration and Pastoral Manager for the organisation and management of all administrative duties within the Advanced Higher Hub and to ensure effective administration processes are in place. The Hub works with pupils from across all 30 Glasgow secondary schools and schools in Ayrshire LEAs and Dumfries and Galloway. Many of the duties involve regular liaison with the Hub teachers, school contacts and the pupils who attend the Hub.
The post holder will also be working with confidential records, maintaining databases, supporting prelims and SQA exams. They will also be involved in the collation and production of reports pertaining to aspects of the department’s activities.
We are looking for an individual who is qualified to a minimum of an HND level qualification in a relevant subject or possess equivalent work experience. They should be enthusiastic and flexible in their approach and be able to work as part of a team or independently. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, have a track record of good organisational and IT skills as well as possessing diary management and meeting clerk experience. Experience of working in an administrative role within a school, college or university would be advantageous.
