An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shop Assistant to join our team in Gray's Art Shop. Working within the Art Shop, the role will be to assist the students, staff and general public in their request by delivering a high level of customer services. We are looking for an enthusiastic and intuitive individual to operate amongst a small team. It is essential that the job holder has excellent communication, numeracy and organisation skills.
This is a part-time, fixed term position. 14.5 hours per week based on Wednesday 8.45am-4.30pm and Friday 8.45am-4.30pm. The position is term time only which includes 3 weeks off in December.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Art Shop Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR: None
PURPOSE OF POST: Working as part of a small team to provide high customer services and advices.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Serving customers at the counter
• Processing the sales through Epos (Till System)
• Cashing up
• Processing the deliveries.
• Re-stock shelves
• Keeping the shop clean and tidy
• To carry out any other duties as required by the Art Shop Manager
Person Specification
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Professional Memberships
Other Standard Grade or equivalent
Educated to a minimum of Standard Grade level to include English and Maths
Knowledge and skills
Knowledge of Art and Design materials gained through good art practice or a college/higher level education qualification in Art/Design.
Good attention to details, ability to use own initiative and to work independently.
Experience
Demonstrate a proven commitment to customer service.
Working in a busy environment.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Educated to Higher level or equivalent to include English and Maths
A college or university qualification in Art and/or Design.
Experience
Experience of working in a retail environment
Knowledge and experience of Epos till Software useful.
