Job Summary

Robert Gordon University is an innovative, inclusive and impactful organisation, delivering a high quality vocational education, sustained by a combination of academic and professional colleagues. As a result, the University has a reputation for producing graduates that are highly sought after by employers. Aberdeen Business School was named Business School of the Year 2020 (THE Awards 2020) and is also accredited by AACSB International (AACSB), an accolade achieved by only 5% of global Business Schools.

You might be a current academic, a PhD student close to completion (in which case we would be happy to discuss flexible options to facilitate this) or a human resource management professional, motivated to use your knowledge and expertise to educate the next generation.  Whatever your background you will have some teaching/training experience, in person/online and more importantly, we expect you to be as passionate as we are about providing excellent student care, promoting academic attainment and inspiring student employability and ambition.

In keeping with RGU's commitment to work/life balance we will consider applications on a full or part-time basis. You will also have the opportunity to work from home for a portion of the working week, but you must be in a position to deliver teaching on campus to meet the requirements of the course. You will benefit from a generous pension scheme, 46 days annual leave (including statutory holidays and Christmas closure) an onsite nursery and sports centre as well as a range of voluntary health and travel benefits.

You will be responsible for teaching and research, predominantly at postgraduate level; development of inspiring course materials and learning activities; marking course work; supervision of MSc students; module coordination and participation in assessment boards. You will be educated to Masters Degree Level and ideally be an established member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

RGU's ultra-modern campus, located on the outskirts of the vibrant and prosperous city of Aberdeen, offers a superb place to live, work and develop your career. This is one of the most impressive university campuses you'll find anywhere in the world, with first-class educational infrastructure and outstanding sporting and leisure facilities set against a stunning rural backdrop on the banks of the river Dee. A relocation package is available to assist with your transition to the area.

We understand that any career move is a big decision, but particularly if you are changing direction or in the process of completing your PhD. If you would like to discuss your situation further before proceeding, please contact us for an informal discussion: Lisa Collie, Principal Lecturer – Human Resource Management, l.c.collie@rgu.ac.uk.

This post is subject to a Disclosure Scotland check. For more information visit: https://www.mygov.scot/standard-disclosure

Full-time hours are 35.0 hours per week although we would welcome applications from those seeking fractional contracts.

Grade 8 Salary Scale: £44,414 - 52,841

Consideration will be given to offering an Academic Attraction Payment (adjusted annually) for those candidates who have specific industry knowledge, skills or, expertise which are required for the position.
