ABOUT THE JOB

The DESC (Digital Evidence Sharing Capability) programme is a large scale, complex programme designed to be transformative in its ambition to modernise the Criminal Justice System in Scotland. Working in conjunction with a 3rd party market leading vendor and software solution the programme seeks to use technology to support the capture, storage, editing and sharing of Digital Evidence between and across CJ Partners. DESC is also regarded as a critical enabler for further change and transformation in this key area. The programme involves a range of Criminal Justice partners including Police Scotland, Scottish Government, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS), Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) and the Defence Community.

We are looking to recruit two experienced Test Analysts to support a range of innovative developments, involving Command & Control, Crime, Case Management, Custody, Intelligence, Forensics and Business Intelligence systems.

In this role you will be a key enabler in ensuring our officers and support staff have robustly tested, fit-for-purpose and performant solutions. You will be joining an experienced team where your inquisitiveness, creativity and desire to deliver high quality solutions has a direct positive impact on keeping people safe.

Under the direction of a Test Analyst Lead, you will be making a valuable contribution to providing professional test services to adapt, transform and improve Police Scotland's systems in line with the policing 2026 Strategy.

Additionally you will be responsible for all aspects of project test planning, test design and test execution for assigned national and local projects ensuring that technical solutions are delivered to the Force within the required timescales, cost and quality parameters. You will be responsible for the development and execution of both manual and automated test scripts and test scenarios, covering a range of local and national projects.


ABOUT YOU

You will be educated to degree level in a computer science or software engineering discipline, or where no qualifications exist, relevant experience.

You are required to have an understanding and knowledge in all aspects of IT Test methodologies and use of test tools such as ALM Quality Centre and UFT. Additionally, you should have excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem solving skills.

These full time posts are temporary until September 2023 and require Management and Security Clearance Vetting. You will work 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
