Who we are

Alcohol Focus Scotland (AFS) is Scotland’s national alcohol charity, committed to preventing and reducing harm to individuals, families, communities and Scotland as a whole. We develop and deliver a diverse range of resources, learning opportunities and qualifications, currently including: alcohol licensing qualifications; resources and training for nursery staff, teachers and specialist services working with children affected by parental drinking; and training for employers on alcohol issues in the workplace.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and experienced senior learning and development practitioner to join our dedicated and skilled team. You will develop and deliver high quality training to diverse audiences. You will identify and develop innovative and engaging learning events and resources which make a real difference to people’s practice.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Experience of designing and delivering high quality training, including developing creative resources and tools, to meet the current and emerging needs of stakeholders and to deliver learning outcomes.
  • Experience of developing effective collaborative partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders at a strategic level, to effect changes in policy and practice.
  • Experience of managing budgets and developing pricing structures for learning and development opportunities and in the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation processes to evidence outcomes.

This role will form a crucial part of AFS’s work to deliver improvements in policy and practice.

Normal place of work: In line with current Government guidelines all AFS staff are working from home. Once restrictions are eased the normal place of work is 166 Buchanan Street, Glasgow, G1 2LW. Travel and occasional overnights may be required to deliver training.
