Are you looking for a new career opportunity that offers you the chance to lead a newly integrated team of HR professionals and support staff? The SSSC and the Care Inspectorate have an exciting new role based in our riverside offices in Dundee.

The Care Inspectorate is the scrutiny and improvement body for social care and social work and the SSSC is the workforce regulator. We are public bodies making sure that social work and social care services and the people that work in them meet high standards. Together, we provide independent assurance and protection for people who use services, their families and carers and the wider public. In addition, we play a significant role in supporting improvements in the quality of services for people in Scotland. Between us we employ around 850 staff in Dundee and local offices across Scotland.

We have successfully shared corporate services for the last 16 years and we are now extending that to include HR.

How can you help us…

We are looking for a talented Head of Human Resources who is passionate about leading and managing a strategic and high performing human resource function across both the SSSC and Care Inspectorate. This requires a hands-on, flexible approach balanced with plenty of opportunity to build on existing excellent internal/external relationships and design and drive significant and sustainable improvements in the way both organisations provide a modern, customer-focused HR advisory and support service.

Specific knowledge and experience…

You will be educated to degree level and CIPD qualified with well-developed influencing, negotiation, organisational and problem-solving skills plus substantial proven ability in operational HR. You will be outcomes-focused and have credibility at all levels. You will be an experienced manager used to working with people at a senior level with the ability to apply professional judgement to complex issues, present balanced findings and deliver practical, realistic and workable solutions. You should be open to the opportunities digital technology brings and bring a values-based approach that empowers staff.

The post is located in our modern Dundee offices which are centrally located, just a 5 minute walk from the train station.

Both the SSSC and the Care Inspectorate are national organisations and therefore you must also be willing to travel with occasional overnight stays as required.
