The Lothian Valuation Joint Board is a Local Government organisation responsible for the maintenance of the Valuation Roll, Council Tax List and Electoral Register.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of a team comprising Valuers, Trainee Valuers and Technician staff who undertake the survey and valuation of non-domestic and domestic properties for the purpose of maintaining both the Valuation Roll and Council Tax List.
You will require to demonstrate considerable established valuation skills, that you have the ability to organise and motivate a multi-discipline team in all aspects of relevant activities. In addition, you will be required to defend valuations, negotiate with appellants or their representatives, prepare appeal cases and appear as an expert witness before the Valuation Appeal Committee.
Considerable experience in valuation for Rating and Council Tax is required together with the ability to survey and value all lands and heritages. The post holder will require to be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The role holder will be required to undertake a supervisor role for coaching and mentoring our Trainee Valuers through their APC qualification.
