Who we are

Lothian Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.

What we do

Provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for East Lothian, the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian and West Lothian Councils in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll, Valuation (Council Tax) List and Registers of Electors.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking to recruit a Trainee Technician who is interested in undertaking a building surveying qualification and progressing a career within Local Government valuation services.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team to contribute to the undertaking of inspections for survey and valuation of a wide range of commercial and domestic property for the purpose of maintaining the Valuation Roll and Council Tax Valuation List.

You should also have experience in using a range of software packages, including spreadsheets and in-house packages.

It is essential that you are a self-motivated individual with excellent time management skills and you are also able to work well as part of a team. Experience in customer service and engagement with members of the public and other organisations would be beneficial to the role. A willingness to travel within Edinburgh and the Lothians is important.
