Job Description

To provide effective & efficient administration support within the Self-Directed Support (SDS) team section, ensuring SDS Option1 (Direct Payment) funding is used in accordance with Moray Council Policy & Scottish Government Legislation

 

Responsibilities

To be aware of relevant legislation relating to Direct Payments as laid down by Central/Local Government and The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Guidance to assist with the financial reviews of the Direct Payments for the SDS team

To be aware of the Self-Directed Support (Direct Payments) (Scotland) regulations 2014 to advise Service Users and or their families, work colleagues of how funds should be used and the support available to assist with this

To undertake regular financial reviews to ensure good governance of public funds and to alert the SDS Coordinator/SDS & Unpaid Carers Team Manager/ Social Worker if there are any concerns or irregularities

To use on a daily basis several IT systems for maintaining accurate Service User/Provider information

Provide support within the SDS team and undertake financial and administrative tasks as directed by the SDS & Unpaid Carers Team Manager

 

The Individual

Experience/ Training in Local Government financial systems.

Knowledge & basic understanding of financial reviews

Experience of using a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office, Excel etc

4 SQA Standard Grades or equivalent (at level 3 or above including English and Mathematics/Arithmetic)

Excellent keyboard skills

Effective communication skills – both verbal and written.

Self-confident and self-motivated

Ability to record information accurately

Sound knowledge of software packages e.g. Microsoft Office

Ability to demonstrate a high standard of numeracy, organisational and administrative skills.

Ability to be compassionate and demonstrate patience, tact and understanding

Ability to work as part of a team.

Willingness to accept direction/delegation

Appreciation, acceptance of and commitment to importance of confidentiality

Where required, an ability to work using own initiative, while also being a team player

Ability to work in a shared office

Ability to work from home

Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service

Ability to work in different offices dependent on the the service
